Deaths and Funerals

J.R. Harwood

Albemarle - Julius Rufus Harwood, 69, of Albemarle, Rt. 6, died at 
Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, Tuesday.  Born Dec. 11, 1902, he was the son 
of the late John A. Harwood and Mrs. Octa Ann Lowder Harwood.  Funeral 
services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at West Albemarle Baptist Church, 
with interment in Fairview Cemetery.  Rev. Edgar Whitlock will officiate.  The 
body will remain in Hartsell’s Funeral Home in Albemarle until placed in the 
church one half hour prior to the services.  The family will receive friends at 
the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. today.  
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Laura Burris Harwood; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy 
Marlow of Concord; one brother, Woodrow Harwood of Albemarle, two 
sisters, Mrs. L.W. Owens of Albemarle and Mrs. Clayton Mullis of Charlotte; 
four grandchildren.
