Bruce H. Ledbetter, 28, son of Mrs. S. E. Ledbetter, 505 Willowbrook street, has been reported as killed in action on December 26 in Belgium. He was in the spearhead division of General Hodges' First Army. He has two brothers in the service, First Class Petty Officer Alton D. Ledbetter of the Sea Bees and Sgt. James Reece Ledbetter, with MacArthur's forces in the Philippines. Besides these brothers and his mother he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Hugh Helms, Mrs. Walter Brooks, both of Stanly County, and Mrs. Lacy Barbee, of Jamestown, Rt. 1. Another brother Alford L. Ledbetter, resides with the mother on Willowbrook street. Pvt. Ledbetter entered service in July of 1941 and left for overseas duty in November of 1944. Note: Bruce H. Ledbetter, the son of William Schuyler and Susan Emeline Smith Ledbetter, was born 8 April 1917 in Big Lick Township, Stanly County, NC. After the death of his father the family moved to High Point, NC. Bruce entered military service on 23 July 1941 at Fort Bragg, NC.
