This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Billy Markland BJMarkland@aol.com =========================================================================== Contributor's Note: A word regarding the methodology used in creating this file. I had to use two indices to get this data: M87 roll 13 which had a county by county list of claimants and roll 14 which had the national Alphabetical index. These indices were type written and there was some discrepancies found between the two. I have attempted to note any major ones such as a name listed in the County index but not found in the Alpha or listed in the County but the Alpha indicates the person was filing from SC. Smaller ones such as spelling differences, I relied upon the Alpha index. Also, I do not have access to all the claims so I have no feel for whether ALL NC clamants are indexed. Hopefully, I can get a truer picture and fill in some of the data holes when I finish the County listings as I then will verify those names against the Alpha index to catch any claim missed. If the file number matches someone listed in the county index but not found previously, I will assign that person to the county. All others found but not listed in the county index will be assigned to a county classification of Unknown. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Claim Dollars Dollars County Surname Given Name Number Claimed Allowed Year Description --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alamance Albright William K. 18,043 2,675.00 0.00 1873 Mules, hogs, cotton, rents, wood, produce and provisions Alamance Mebane Robert L. 15,095 192.00 0.00 1873 Shoes Alexander Beckham Edward 10,021 535.00 0.00 1879 Mules, horse, corn, and brandy Alexander Bolick Mathias 1,707 150.00 0.00 1878 Mare Alexander Carigan James A. 825 150.00 0.00 BARRED Mule Alexander Carson John M. 20,185 357.92 158.00 1878 Commissary and quartermaster stores Alexander Chapman George 1,681 250.00 250.00 1873 Horses Alexander Cline Elijah 1,682 150.00 0.00 BARRED Mare Alexander Daniel Alexander 5,877 168.00 0.00 BARRED Horse, saddle, and bridle Alexander Davis Andrew 4,105 125.00 0.00 BARRED NOT LISTED Alexander Deal John 1,683 150.00 0.00 BARRED Mare Alexander Deal John E. 3,659 150.00 0.00 NOT LISTED Alexander Deal Silas (Margaret Deal Administratrix) 1,684 125.00 0.00 1878 Horse Alexander Flowers Adam 1,713 140.00 0.00 1878 Mule Alexander Fox Solomon 1,149 100.00 0.00 BARRED Horse Alexander Hartness Silas 1,444 350.00 0.00 1878 Mare and mule Alexander Hines Elijah 109 160.00 0.00 1878 Mules, saddle, and bridle Alexander Icenhour A.C. 1,685 150.00 0.00 BARRED Mare Alexander Jolly Elizabeth 824 175.00 125.00 1877 NOT LISTED Alexander Malone Andrew J. 4,126 150.00 NOT FOUND IN ALPHA INDEX Alexander Marshall A.G. 1,716 125.00 0.00 BARRED Mare Alexander Price Jehu 1,722 150.00 0.00 BARRED Mare Alexander Price Manering 1,723 200.00 0.00 BARRED Horse Alexander Sloan W.R. 7,040 150.00 0.00 1876 Mule Alexander Sloop Caleb 4,189 210.00 165.00 1877 NOT LISTED Alexander Teague William 10,022 300.00 250.00 1877 Horses Alexander Thompson Amy 1,454 300.00 0.00 BARRED Mules Alexander Thompson Elizabeth 1,455 150.00 0.00 BARRED Horse Alexander Watts/ James 10,023 215.00 150.00 1877 Horse and equipments Walts Alexander Wittenburg David 1,724 400.00 100.00 1878 NOT LISTED Anson Bennett Risten H. 6,060 2,725.50 0.00 BARRED Horses, mules, wagons, bacon, etc. Anson Boggan Alexander M. 7,617 209.25 0.00 BARRED Horse, bacon, lard, tobacco, etc. Anson Horn James E. 7,613 2,897.00 0.00 BARRED Corn, fodder, mules, bacon, lard, etc. Anson Ingram Dixon 1,106 276.50 0.00 BARRED Mule, corn, bacon, tobacco, etc. Anson Moore Lucy 4,411 150.00 0.00 BARRED Horse Anson Smith Mary 4,932 1,494.72 0.00 BARRED Horse, mules, provisions, etc. Anson Yates James C. 7,616 1,123.00 0.00 BARRED Horses, mules, corn, provisions, etc. Beaufort Cherry Jacob 20,118 250.00 150.00 1874 Mare Beaufort Colbert Elisha 14,549 1,149.25 0.00 1874 Horse, cattle, sheep, flatboat, pork, corn, and fodder Beaufort Evington James 20,115 388.00 295.00 1874 Commissary and quartermaster stores Beaufort Fowle [sic] Saml.
