This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Billy Markland BJMarkland@aol.com ==================================================================== Contributor's Note: A word regarding the methodology used in creating this file. I had to use two indices to get this data: M87 roll 13 which had a county by county list of claimants and roll 14 which had the national Alphabetical index. These indices were type written and there was some discrepancies found between the two. I have attempted to note any major ones such as a name listed in the County index but not found in the Alpha or listed in the County but the Alpha indicates the person was filing from SC. Smaller ones such as spelling differences, I relied upon the Alpha index. Also, I do not have access to all the claims so I have no feel for whether ALL NC clamants are indexed. Hopefully, I can get a truer picture and fill in some of the data holes when I finish the County listings as I then will verify those names against the Alpha index to catch any claim missed. If the file number matches someone listed in the county index but not found previously, I will assign that person to the county. All others found but not listed in the county index will be assigned to a county classification of Unknown. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Claim Dollars Dollars County Surname Given Name Number Claimed Allowed Year Description ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Warren Aaron Lipman 21,029 1,622.00 0.00 1873 Horses, cattle, buggies, wagons, produce, and provisions Cherokee Abbott James D. 8,404 1,362.12 912.00 1872 Provisions, horse, forage, wagon, etc. Gaston Abernathy Coleman 17,750 179.00 0.00 1874 Mare and bacon Wake Adams Alford/Alfred 9,156 682.00 0.00 1874 Horses, mule, hog, and corn Watauga Adams Allen 10,404 187.75 0.00 BARRED Horse, corn, bacon, wheat, etc. Cumberland Adams John Q. 5,719 341.00 306.00 1871 Horse and forage Wake Adams John Q. 5,719 341.00 306.00 1871 [No state indicated for claimant] Horse and forage Johnston Adams Quinton 13,193 457.38 0.00 BARRED Bacon, corn, lumber, fodder, etc. Wake Adams, Sr. John Q. 13,194 873.00 0.00 BARRED Corn, mare, mule, bacon, hogs, wheat, etc. Perquimons Albertson Edward C. 8,171 500.00 0.00 1872 Half interest in stallion Alamance Albright William K. 18,043 2,675.00 0.00 1873 Mules, hogs, cotton, rents, wood, produce and provisions Lenoir Aldridge Lemuel H. 10,168 1,222.50 0.00 1873 Mules, horses, wagon and provisions Wayne Aldridge Robert 14,758 832.00 590.00 1873 Franklin Allen William H. 4,163 18,562.25 0.00 1879 Mules, commissary and quartermaster stores Transylvania Allison Mary 6,388 610.00 0.00 1873 Mules, horse, bacon, and corn Buncombe Allman Jacob 11,935 275.00 0.00 1873 Horse and mule Yadkin Allred Jacob C. 4,092 162.00 0.00 BARRED Horse and saddle Yadkin Allred Mary 20,520 144.50 125.00 1877 Quartermaster stores Johnston Altman Alfred 4,225 1,200.00 0.00 1872 Mules, horse, oxen, poultry, produce, and provisions Tyrrell Ambrose Wilson G. 21,250 300.00 130.00 1878 Horse Buncombe Anders John C. 18,311 150.00 115.00 1874 NOT LISTED Hertford Anderson John A.
