MARY GORDON, widow of JOHN GORDON, deceased

         VS. 

THOMAS GUYMAN and his wife, SARAH; JAMES KING and wife, BARZILLA; JOHN GORDON; 
MARTIN PHILIPS and his wife, JANE

Petition for Dower 

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the defendants, THOMAS 
GUYMAN and his wife, SARAH; JAMES KING and wife, BARZILLA; JOHN GORDON; MARTIN 
PHILIPS and his wife, JANE are not inhabitants of this State: It is therefore 
ordered by the Court that publication be made for six successive weeks in the 
Patriot, printed in Greensboro, for the said defendants, to be notified to 
appear at our next Superior  Court of Law to be held for the County of Stokes 
in the Court House at Germanton, on the 2nd Monday after the 4th Monday in 
September, then and there to plead, answer or demur. Otherwise, the petition 
will be taken pro confesso and heard ex parte as to them. 

Witness, ISAAC GOLDING, Clerk of said Court, at office in Germanton, on the 
2nd Monday after the 4th Monday in March, A.D., 1848.
