The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. ============================================================= This Indenture made this tenth day of February in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred & fifteen, wherein John Gebhard Cunow of Bethlehen, in Northampton County in the state of Pennsylvania of the one part, and Elijah Harrol of the County of Stokes and State of North Carolina of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Gebhart Cunow for and in consideration of the sum of seventy two dollars and fifty cents to him in hand paid, at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath given, granted, sold, aliened, Released and Confirmed, and by these presents doth give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, Release, and confirm to Elijah Harrol, a certain parcel or tract of land containing by estimation fourteen and one half acres of land be the same more or less lying, situate, and being in the County of Stokes and State of North Carolina on the West side of Haw Branch, waters of the Middle Fork of Muddy Creek and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a hickory sapling on the Northwest corner of Pleasant Thomason's, resuming thence north forty perches to pointers, thence East 58 perches to a white oak, thence South forty perches to a stake in Pleasant Thomason's line, then west along said Thomason's line fifty eight perches to the place of beginning. To have and to hold the said tract of land to the said Elijah Harrol his heirs and assigns forever, withal and singularly the rights, privileges, interests, hereditaments and Emoluments, whereunto belonging as in any wise ascertaining. And the said John Gebhard Cunow doth by these presents covenant and agree with the said Elijah Harrol that he will forever warrant and defend the title to the said tract of land to the said Elijah Harrol, his heirs and assigns forever against the claims of all persons whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said John Gebhard by his agent and Attorney, in fact Lewis Schwimitz hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and year first above written. Muning and declared to be registered Rob Williams, Clerk Note: Elijah Harrold, herein spelled Elijah Harrol, is identified as Elijah Harrold, b. 1771, son of Richard Harrold and Mary Pitts, grandson of Jonathan Harrold and Catherine Hiatt, and great grandson of Richard Harrold and Mary Beals. He married Nancy Hendricks April 15, 1812 in Stokes County. Note: Richard Harrold, herein spelled Richard Harrol, is identified as Richard Harrold, (b.
