Between Patmon Lawson, Letty Lawson, Randall Hall, John Lawson, Thomas Lawson, & Clem Lawson of the County of Stokes State of N Carolina of the One part and Thomas Gains of the County and State aforesaid of the Other part Witnesseth, that for and in Consideration of the sum of thirty one pounds Virginia Money by the said Thos Gains in hand paid, the Receipt Whereof is hereby fully Acknowledged, hath Granted Bargained and Sold, and by these presents do Grant Bargain Sell Entoff(?), alienate and Confirm unto the said Thomas Gains a Certain Tract or piece of land lying & being in the said County of Stokes Beginning at a pine on the North side of Little Peters Creek Running west thirty nine Chains & two links & a half to a Red Oak in James Gains's line, south with William Boils Fifty One chains and twenty five Links Crossing the said Creeks, to a White Oak thence East thirty nine chains and two Links and an half, to a post, thence North fifty one chains & twenty five Links Crossing the said Creek to the beginning, Containing two hundred acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Land with the appurtenances, and all Rights privileges to the same in any wise belonging or appertaining; unto him the said Thomas Gains his heirs and assigns forever. And the said Patman Lawson, Letty Lawson, Randall Hall, John Lawson, Thomas Lawson & Clem Lawson do hereby Covenant with the said Thomas Gains, that the said Gains his heirs and assigns shall and may forever here after hold possess and Enjoy the said Granted Land and premises, and the said Patman Lawson, Letty Lawson, Randall Hall, John Lawson, Thos. Lawson & Clem Lawson hereby bind and oblige themselves their heirs &c to warrant and defend the said Land and premises to the said Thos. Gains his heirs and assigns forever free and clear from all persons Claiming whatever, Witness our hands & seals the day and year first above Written.
