Carolina Deed dated 25 Oct 1796, proved Dec Term 1798, Stokes Co, NC Deed Book 3, pg. 199, Stokes Co, NC 199. This Indenture Made this 25th day of October 1796. Between Henry King of the State of Georgia of the One part, and Lewis Waggoner of Stokes County State of N.Carolina of the Other part. Witnesseth, that he the said Henry King for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty pounds Current Money to him in hand paid the Receipt Whereof is hereby acknowledged, Hath Granted, Bargained, Sold & delivered, and by these presents doth Grant Bargain Sell and deliver, unto the said Lewis Waggoner, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County aforesaid, on the East fork of Oldfield Creek, adjoining Lewis Waggoner?s line, Beginning at a Chesnut tree, near the Salem Road, Running North thirty chains to a hickory tree & the left fork of Oldfield Creek, thence East crossing the said Creek twenty eight chains & fifty eight links to a pine, thence South thirty chains to a pine, thence West to the beginning. Including his Improvement, Containing in the Whole One hundred Acres be the same more or less. Together with all the Right, Title, Claim & Interest of him the said Henry King of, in and to the same. To have & to hold the said land With the Appurtenances Rights & privileges, unto the said Lewis Waggoner, his heirs & assigns forever. And the said Henry King, for himself, his heirs do Covenant & agree With the said Lewis Waggoner, that the said Waggoner, his heirs & assigns shall forever hereafter have hold Occupy, possess, and Enjoy, the aforesaid Granted land and premises With every part and Article thereof, free and clear from all Incumbrances; and that the said Henry King against himself his heirs all and all Other persons the said Land & premises with every Article thereunto belonging, unto the said Lewis Waggoner, his heirs and assigns Will Warrant & forever defend.
