State of N. Carolina No. 1027
To all To whom these presents shall come Greetings - Know ye that We for and 
in Consideration of the Sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby 
Granted paid into Our Treasury by Ursilla Ray, have Given & Granted and by 
these presents do Give & Grant unto the said Ursilla Ray a Tract of Land 
containing one hundred Acres lying & being in Our County of Stokes (fore 
Surry) Beginning on a pine in Gabriel Waggoners Line by Salem Road and Runing 
North thirty chains to a black Oak sapling in James Lefoys line thence West in 
said line thirty three Chains and thirty-five links to a Chesnut Saplin thence 
South thirty Chains and thence East to the beginning.  As by the plat hereunto 
annexed doth Appear Together With all Woods, Waters, Mines, Minerals, 
hereditaments and Appurtenances to the said parcel belonging or Appertaining:  
To hold to the said Ursilla Ray her heirs and assigns forever.  Yielding and 
paying to Us, such Sums of money Yearly or otherwise as our General assembly 
from time to time may direct Provided always that the said Ursilla Ray Shall 
Cause this Grant to be Registered in the Registers Office of our Said County 
of Surry (now Stokes) within twelve Months from the Sale hereof Otherwise the 
same shall be Void & of no Effect in Testimony whereof We have Caused these 
Our letters to be made patent, and Our Grant Seal to be hereunto affixed.  
Witness Richard Caswell Esquire Our Governor Captain General and Commander in 
Chief at Kinston the Nineth day of August in the XIIth year of Our 
Independence AD 1787.
