Franklin Redman, age 44 enlisted as a Pvivate with the 52nd NC Infantry Co. 
D.  Discharged in May of 1862 by reason of being overage.  Conscript laws of 
that period prohibited men over the age of 35.

Appears on Company Muster rool of the organization named above, for May and

F Redman, Pvt. Co, C, 13 Reg't North Carolina Troops, Appears on a Muster Roll 
of Prisoners of War Belonging to the Army of Northern Virginia, who have been 
this day surrendered by General Robert E. Lee. C.S.A., commanding said Army, 
to Lieut. Genl, U.S. Grant, commanding Armies of te United States.  Paroled at 
Appomattox Court House, Virginia, April 9, 1865.  Roll dated April 9, 1865.
