The Semi-Weekly Messenger (Wilmington NC) July 13, 1897
Winston Sentinel: The Sentinel on Friday published a report about lightning
striking and killing Mr William Schaub, near King's Cabin, Stokes county, on
Thursday. Mr E B Jones, while at Bethania yesterday, learned that Mr Schaub came
to life Thursday night and it is thought now that he will recover. He was on a
load of hay when the flash came. The horses were killed, hay burned up and the
wagon badly damaged.
