A. Smith are the children of William L. and Melissa A. Smith. In 1900, it was noted that Melissa had given birth to 7 children, 5 of whom were living. Their first child was born in Feb of 1884, so it would be feasible that Levada could have arrived in 1885. There also is a gap in years from a son born in 1891 to a daughter born in 1897—again, Tonzo, born in 1893, would fit. In the 1910 census, the Smiths were living in Boyles, Stokes Co., NC. and stated they had given birth to 8 children, only 5 of whom were living. Additionally, their youngest child, a girl, was named Tonza.
