Last Will & Testament for John FARE/Fair. "Be it remembered that on the twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and ninety four, I John FARE of the County of Stokes and the State of North Carolina being sick of body which rendered him mindful of having his Last Will and Testament in writing, but being of sound mind & memory did call upon his wife Alice FAIRE together with Andrew ROBINSON, Michael FAIR & Abigal DAVIS, with several of his neighbors, to his bedside in his own dwelling house & having requested of them to take notice did declare, order & pronounce before the said persons the under written Nuncupative Will (To Wit) he gave and bequeathed to his wife Alice FARE his plantation, whereupon he dwelt, during the sum of her natural life or widowhood. With everything thereon after payment of all his lawful debts together with a negro woman named Jude, in order to raise & support his children thereon & all her increase. The land to descend to his son John FAIRE. The Newcomb horse and his wearing apparel to be sold by his wife toward the payment of his debts.
