I Barnard Farmer of Stokes County & State of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will & testament in manner & form following ___ to say I wish all my just debts to be paid however & to whom I owe - owing out of the monies that first comes in the hands of my Executors as a part or parcel of my estate. Item 1st I give & devise to my beloved wife Mary all my Real & personal estate during her life. 2nd I leave to my son John F. Farmer one dollar & no more. 3rd to my Grandson Clabourne Scurlock one dollar and no more. 4th to my Grand Daughter Judith Scurlock one dollar & no more. 5 Item to my daughter Mary wife of George Reves and my Granddaughter Mary wife of Wm Crews to them & to the heirs of their bodys all of my family of Blacks I wish them to be equally divided between them two my land & other property sold and the money equally divided between them two And I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend Peter Critz my lawful Executor to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the true meaning of the same and every part and clause thereof. In witness whereof I the said Barnard Farmer do hereunto sit my hand and seal this the twenty fifth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty one. his Barnard X Farmer (seal) mark Witness Edwin Smith Peter Critz Signed sealed & published and declared by the said Barnard Farmer to be his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other do subscribe our names as witnesses thereunto.
