He moved to Stokes County, North Carolina, about 1825. He was a tobacco farmer, owning about 600 acres of land northeast of Danbury, N.C. His sons hauled the tobacco with teams of mules and wagons to Milledgeville, Georgia, the State Capital at that time, where it was sold. About 1828 Elijah and a brother, Thomas C. MOORE, and a sister, Nancy MOORE, drove to Milledgeville with loads of tobacco which they were to sell along with the wagons to attended Franklin College at Athens. (This later became the University of Georgia) Thomas MOORE became home sick and drove his team back to North Carolina. Later Thomas MOORE went to California (via Missouri) and married and reared two sons, Tyree and Ivan MOORE. Elijah and Nancy MOORE stayed at Franklin College until Elijah graduated. The tobacco farm of William F. MOORE was located northeast of Danbury, North Carolina and is where William F. MOORE lived with his daughters, Eliza and Dorothy C. MOORE at the time of his death. There is an old cemetery on this land and it appears that William F. MOORE and his wife, Elizabeth, and daughters Elisa and Dorothy C.
