I desire the payment of all my just debts. II. I give to my daughter in law S.E. Redman all of my personal property which I may have at the time of my death III. I further give to my daughter in law all of my real estate for her to hold for her use and benefit during her life and after her death I desire and direct its ____ to be equally divided between her five youngest children which is now living together by my son John L Redmon. If any of them shall be dead I desire the remainder of the five surviving children and (?)their share to share it equally. IV. I give to my grandson Joseph Redmon one dollar V. I give to my grandson Sam Redmon one dollar. VI. I hereby make and appoint Thomas Young my executor to carry out my will. State of North Carolina ___ in the Superior Court, Stokes County A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Franklin Redmon, deceased, is exhibited before me, the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court (several lines unintelligible, starts on next page). …herein named who makes application to have the same admitted to probate as the last will and testament of Franklin Redman dec’d and being first duly sworn says that he is the executor named in said will and as such is entitled to have the same admitted to probate. That the value of the estate of the said Franklin Redmon dec’d as near as the same can be ascertained at the date of this application is about $500.00 of which about $400.00 is real property and $100.00 is personal property. What the deaisees (?) under said will who are entitled to said property are as follows, viz: Mrs. S.E. Redman wife of John L. Redman of full age and resident of Stokes county N.C Laura Redman, Lou (Lula) Redman, Carrie Redman, Charles Redman and Paul Redman all minors without guardian and residents of Stokes Co. N.C. Joseph Redman, and Sam Redman both minors without guardian and residents of Stokes Co, N.C. Sworn to and Subcribed before me this the Thomas Young 14th day of Nov, 1899 N.O. Petree State of North Carolina ___ in the Superior Court Stokes County A paper writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Franklin Redman deceased is exhibited before me the undersigned Clerk of the Superior Court for said county by Thomas Young the executor herein mentioned and its ___ execution ___ by the said Franklin Redman is ____ by the oath and ___ ___ M.A. Lash and John A Burton ___ ___ witnesses ___:who, being duly sworn does come and say, and each for himself____ that he is a subsidiary (?)…next 4 lines are unreadable. …the end of said paper writing, now shown as aforesaid and which bears date of the 10th day of August 1899. And the ___further saith that the said Franklin Redmon the testator aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid, declare and exhibited to this his last will and testament, and this afirmant (?) did therefore subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness states (?) and a the request and in the presence of the said testator. And this afirmant (?) further saith that at the said time when the said testator subscribed his name to the said last will as aforesaid and at the time of afirment’s (?) subscribing his name as an attesting witness states as aforesaid the said Franklin Redman was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will and was not under any restraint to their knowledge, information as belief of these ____: And further these ___ say not. ____sworn and subscribed W.A. Lash This 14th day of Nov. 1899 John A. Burton. Before me, N. O. Petree Clerk Superior Court State of North Carolina in the Superior Court Stokes County In the matter of the last will of Franklin Redmaon. It appearing to the court by the ___ and ___ of Dr. W.A. Lash and John A Burton the subscribing witnesses thereto that the paper writing proposed (?) by the executor herein named in the last will and testament of Franklin Redman and that the same was duly executed by said Franklin Redmon in the presence of said witnesses and that at the time of signing the same the said Franklin Redman was of sound mind. It is there fore adjudged that the said paper writing be admitted to probate as the last will and testament of the said Franklin Redman and the executor herein named … last line unreadable, continues on next page… It is ordered that letters of admission ____ the will ___ be issued to James. W. Lashley upon his filing the proper ___; it affirming that it is the desire of the deaisees named in said will that he should be appointed administrator with its ____ ____.
