Stokes County, North Carolina Will Book 6 Page 167 Will of: Adam Wall In the name of God Amen I Adam Wall of the county of Stokes and state of North Carolina being of sound mind and memory but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in the manner and form following that is to say 1st item That my executor hereinafter named shall provide for my body a decent burial suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends, and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts to whomsoever owing me of the moneys that may first come unto his hands or a part of my estate. 2nd item I give and devise to my son John Wall, all my land, consisting of two tracts, one bought of George W. Barr, the other deeded to me by Christian Lash also such other land and real estate as I may own at my death all of which is to be held in trust for and for the use and maintenance of my beloved wife Mary W. Wall her lifetime and at her death to provide for her body decent burial and after her death to the use of the said John Wall and his heirs in fee simple, but conditional and upon the following provisions to wit. That the said John Wall shall provide for my said wife Mary W. Wall a suitable and comfortable maintenance her life time but if he shall at any time fail or refuse to maintain or cause to be maintains my said wife Mary W. Wall, there and in that case I will that my beloved wife Mary W. Wall have in fee simple all my land and the right to convey the same or otherwise control it whenever said John Wall shall fail to maintain her. 3rd item I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Mary W. Wall all my personal property of every description for her live and at her death to my son John Wall provided however he shall maintain my said wife her life time, but if he shall fail at any time to so maintain her there and in that case my said beloved wife is to have all of said personal property absolutely with the right to convey and dispose of the same so soon as such failure shall occur. 4th item I hereby nominate, constitute and appoint my said son John Wall my Executor of this my Last Will and Testament hereby revoking every other will at any time heretofore made by me and do declare this to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I have hereunto sit my hand this the 16th day of April 1880. Phillips, Matthew Phillips North Carolina Stokes County A paper writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Adam Wall decíd is offered for probate by Matthew Philips, and Matthew Philips and John Z. Philips being duly sworn _____ that they are subscribing witness to said paper writing in their presence and subscribed their names as witness there to.
