SURRY   COUNTY           May  Term, 1846

ELISHA BANNER and MORDICA FLEMING 

Vs.

WILLIAM H. CARTER, JONATHAN CARTER, C.C. CARTER, ______ JOHNSON and his wife, 
MARIAH E. JOHNSON, and ELDRIDGE G. CARTER

Petition to Divide Land 

It appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the  defendants, WILLIAM H. 
CARTER, JONATHAN CARTER, C.C. CARTER, ______ JOHNSON and his wife, MARIAH E. 
JOHNSON, and ELDRIDGE G. CARTER are  not  inhabitants of this state: it is 
therefore ordered by the Court that publication be made for six successive 
weeks in the Patriot, a newspaper printed in Greensboro, that unless the said 
Defendants appear at our next Court to be held for the County of Surry  in the 
Court House at Rockford  2nd Monday in August ,   and  plead, answer, or demur 
to this petition, judgment will be granted against him and the property levied 
on condemned to satisfy the Plaintiff’s debt.

May, 1846.
