Watson HOLDERFIELD from Hiram LAKEY a deed 100Acres This indenture made this eighth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty six between Hiram LAKEY(Attorney for Jeptha LAKEY) of the County of Buncome and of State of North Carolina of the one part and Watson HOLDERFIELD of the County of Surry and State aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said Hiram LAKEY, Attorney as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of eighty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged has hereby bargained and sold unto the said Watson HOLDERFIELD a certain tract of land lying in the County of Surry on the waters of the double creeks. Beginning at a pine on the East side of said creek and runs thence west to a white oak thirty chains to a white oak thence North thirty five chains to a pine thence East thirty chains to a black oak and thence South to the beginning. Containing one hundred acres be the same more or less. The above mentioned land was entered by Isaac MANUEL(?) and conveyed from one to another until it got into the hands of Johnson SUMMERS who dying willed it to the above mentioned Jeptha LAKEY to have and to hold unto the said Watson HOLDERFIELD his heirs and assigns forever and the said Hiram LAKEY doth by these presents warrant and defend the said land to the said HOLDERFIELD and his heirs and assigns him the said LAKEY his heirs and assigns and against the lawful claims of all and every other person or persons whatsoever in Testimony whereof the said Hiram LAKEY has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
