WOOD, STEPHEN #S7966, VA Line

13 November 1832, Surry Co, NC, Declaration of Applicant Stephen Wood aged 71.  
Volunteered under Capt Tho Moore in Prince Edward County, VA February 1781 for 
six months.  Marched to Petersburgh, VA, went on to Cabin Point to attack Col 
Tarlton "who hearing of our march took to his Boots and evaded us".  
Discharged near Petersburgh.  General was Lawson, Col John Halcomb, Majors 
Phillip Halcomb & Overstreet.  Applicant was born in the year 1762 in King 
William County, Virginia, no record of age.  Living in Prince Edward, VA and 
have since lived and now live in Surry County, NC.

Affidavit as to character by John Wright, Clergyman; John Angel [his X mark] 
and Westly [his X mark] Armstrong, all of Surry County. 

Summary by War Department states he served six months as Private.
