TAKEN UP AND COMMITTED TO THE ...
jail of Surry County, North Carolina on the 21st December 1863 a Negro boy who 
says he name is ARCH, and belongs to R. M. CLARK of Patrick County, Va. Said 
boy is about 18 or 20 years old, five feet eight or 10 inches high and dark. 
the owner is hereby notified to come forward, prove property, pay charges and 
take him away, otherwise he will be dealt with as the law directs.
