I Laurance Halcomb of the county of Surry and state of North Carolina calling to mind the uncertainty of life and the certainty of death do this 7th day fo April AD 1823 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say first my will and desire is that my Just debts all be paid. Secondly my will and desire is that my son Philip Halcomb shall have the whole of my tract of land that Lies Joining of him it being part of the land I purchased of John Gentry (called?) one hundred and fifty acres, 150, in case thear should be coming to him the said Philip the some of one hundred Dollers out of my estate hereafter. Thirdly I lend unto my beloved wife Priscilla Halcom the hole of my estate lock real and Personal (except the above named 150 acres). During her natural life or widowhood she paying to my daughter Betsy Gentry as her full share of my estate the some of five Dollers after her discease or widowhood. My will is that the hole of my estate be equally divided Between my children as follows Wiliam Halcomb James Halcomb Racheal Robeson Philip Halcomb Lewis Halcomb Frances Johnson and Mary Swain the children of my Deceased daughter Sally Green I gave the Seventy or Seventy five Dollers that I paid to prevent the land of William Green from Being sold in order to make a rightfull division among the Before named children. I want it understood that the creature I gave to my Daughter Frances Johnson I value at forty five dollers (which said $45 is to be considered as so much of her part already paid and for the full and complete execution of this my will I make and ordain my son Philip Halcomb and my trusty frind George D. Halcomb executors of this my last will and testament and I do hearby revoke and disanull all other wills by me maid and do acnoledg this only as my last will and testament in witness whearof I have hear under set my hand and affixed my seal the day and date above written.
