Christian Miller - Will In the Name of God Amen April 14th 1785 I Christian Miller of Surry County & State of North Carolina Being very sick & Weak of Body but of perfect mind and Memory thanks be to God for the same, Therefore calling to Mind the Mortality of my Body and knowing that it is appointed for all Men once to Die Do make and Ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is to say, Principally & first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the Hands of God that gave it, and for my Body I Recommend it to the Earth to be Buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the Discretion of my Executor, Nothing Doubting, but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same by The mighty power of God, And as touching such Worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with in this Life, I Give, Devise and Dispose in the following manner & form. Imprimis. It is my Will and I do Order that all my just Debts, & funeral Charges be paid And Satisfied, Item, I Give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved Son Jacob Miller Whome I Likewise Ordain & Constitute my only Sole Executor of this my Last Will and Testament, all and singular the Lands, Messuages, and Tenements, together with all my Horses, Cattle, Sheep, Hogs, etc. and all my Household Goods & furniture Both Moveable & Immovable with all my whole & Personal Estate of what kind so ever to him His Heirs & Assigns for ever, Item. I Give unto my Daughter Mary Davis One Shilling Sterling. Item. I also give and bequeath unto the heirs of my Daughter Catharine Long, Deceas’d (sic) One Shilling Sterling,,Item. I also give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Carpenter One Shilling Sterling,, And I do hereby Utterly Disallow, Revoke and Disannul all and every Form & Testament, Wills, Legacies and Executors, by me and in any wise before Named, Willed & Bequeathed and Ratifying and Confirming this and no other to be my last Will & Testament Whereof I have - hereunto set my Hand and Seal the Day and year above Written ---- Signed, Sealed, Publish’d Prounounc’d and Declared by the said his Christian N Miller Mark In Presence of us the subscribers Joseph Hill, Jurat his Thomas (X) Clanton mark John Miller, Jurat AN INVENTORY of the goods and chattels of Christian Miller deceased January 10th 1795. To 3 head of cattle, 5 head of hogs, To 1 feather bed and furniture, 1 bedstead, 1 chest, 1 iron pot, 8 pewter plates, 1 Teapot, 6 teaspoons, 1 flax hackle, 1 pair of Steelgards, 3 chairs, 1 table, 3 water pails, 1 flax wheel, 3 pewter dishes. Jacob Miller Execr November 9th 1795 North Carolina Surry County November term 1795 The within Inventory of the Estate of Christian Miller deceased was returned by Jacob Miller and ordered to be recorded.
