The Will and Testament of Robert C Cook 1780 In the name of God amen, I Robert C. Cook of Surry County and State of North Carolina, being sick and weak but of perfect mind and memory thanks be the Almighty God, calling to mind the mortality of my body knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die to make and ordain this my last Will and Testament, that is today first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hand of the Almighty God that gives my Body, I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent manner at the decision of Executor nothing doubting but at the general resurrection. I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and touching such worldly Estate where with it hath pleased God to bless me with. I give demise and dispare of the same in the following manner first of all I desire that all my Lawful Debts be paid. I also lend unto my beloved wife Mary the plantation where I now live with Tract of land there unto belonging, also all my stock except one black mare & colt and too cows together with all my house goods, Except one bed and & furniture during her natural Life and after her decease to be equally divided among my children which none lives with me to it John Cook, Abel Cook, William Cook, Mary Blackburn, Thomas Cook, as I have yet too more Children. I also leave each of them five pounds to Urusla Burns(spl) and Elizabeth Cook, & I also give to John Cook bed & furniture, I also give to my son-in-law Richard Beasley my black mare, and also give my son-in-law Samuel Taylor my black horse colt. I also give my grand daughter Daisey(spl) Cook one cow. I also give to grand daughter Faisner(spl) Cook one cow. I like wife constitute, make and ordain my friends Ambrose Blackburn and Thomas Eavins Excecutors to this my last Will and Testament and I also thereby declare, revoke & deemed all and every other former testament, wills, decrees, bequeaths and executors by me and any wife before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this to be my last Will and Testament in writhing. Whereas of I have here unto set my hand and seal this Forth Day of Jan.
