Tryon County, NC - Potts Families, 1769-1778 ~~~~~~~~~~ 1769 to 1779 Tryon North Carolina Court Minutes October Term 1769 On motion of ALEXANDER MARTIN it was ordered that JOHN POTTS, be granted Letters of Administration of goods, chattels, rights and credits of JEREMIAH POTTS deceased. JOHN POTTS took the oath of Administrator. Hugh Quinn, Solomon Beson, John Stevenson, and Samuel Davidson were given bond for the sum of One Thousand pounds. January Term 177O Deed of Sale dated 13 Oct 1769 from JOHN POTTS to CHRISTIAN RINEHART for 260 acres proved and ordered to be registered January Term 1770 A deed of lease and release from JOHN AND MARY POTTS, his wife, to NICHOLAS CLAY for 450 acres dated Jan. 1769 and proved by William Reed. April Term 1770 THOMAS POTTS vs. HAGERTY & ALCORN. Jury impaneled to assess costs of 7.12. 9-3/4.6 pounds. January Term 1771 EZEKIAL POTTS ordered Letters Testamentary of all goods and chattels, rights, of JOHN POTTS, dec'd. EZEKIAL POTTS is executor, provided he complies with act of assembly and has taken oath. April term 1772 Deed of Mortgage from GEORGE POTTS to PETER CARPENDER, 15 day Feb. 1772 for 400 acres proved and ordered to be registered. April Term 1778 JONATHAN POTTS and JEAN POTTS, orphan children of JEREMIAH POTTS, dec'd came into Court being of Lawful age and chose THOMAS SPRIGGS, their Guardian. SPRIGGS entered into Bond of 500 pounds.
