All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Szum m.szum2006@sbcglobal.net May 23, 2008, 8:07 pm Tryon County NC Written: September 1, 1761 DEED BK 1 P 228-229 GLENN GILLESPIE LINCOLN CO NC Indenture Made the 1st day of September in the year of Our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty one between William Glenn and Jennet his wife in the County of Tryon & province of North Carolina, planter of the one part and John Gillespie of the County of Tryon Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of Six pounds Proc. to the said William Glenn in hand paid by the said John Gillespie at and before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold aliened issued conveyed and confirmed And by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien issue convey and confirm unto the said John Gillespie his heirs and assigns One certain tract piece or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the County of Tryon aforesaid on the S side of South fork of the Catawba River containing by estimation Two hundred acres of land bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at a hickory and runs thence south 73 degrees West 200 poles to a Hickory thence So 15 degrees East 200 poles to a red oak thence No 7 degrees East 180 poles to a stake on Wm Glenn’s line thence by his line North 45 degrees East 26 poles to a corner on the south fork and thence up the said fork it meanders to the Beginning of the patent granted to the said Wm Glenn the 23rd of April 1767 with the appurtenances Situate lying and being as aforesaid with their and every of their rights members and appurtenances whatsoever and the Reversion & diversions Remainder and Remainders of all and singular the lands tenements hereditiments & presents hereby granted intended to be granted and of every part and parcel thereof and all rents issues services and profits of these or every of these or every part or parcel of these or any of them incident belonging or appertaining and also all and every the Estate & estates, rights, titles, claims, interest & demands whatsoever of him the said Wm Glenn and Janet of or unto the said lands tenements hereditaments and premises hereby granted or mentioned to be granted or any of them or any part and parcel thereof TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said lands tenements hereditaments and premises hereby granted with their appurtenances to the said John Gillon or by his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the sd John Gillespie his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Wm Glenn and Janet his wife for themselves their heirs Exrs & Admrs shall and will defend it forever from any claim to the said described premises hereditaments & premnises appurtenances by to or under them their heirs and Admrs & Assigns forever contraryto the true interest and meaning of these presents In Witness whereof the said Wm Glenn and Janet his wife has hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written his Signed Sealed and delivered William X Glenn In the presence of us mark George Ewing Her Patrick Mdavid Thos Henderson North Carolina Tryon county July Term Jenet X Glenn mark The Execution of the within deed was proved in open court And recorded in the Clerks Office According to Law –Ordered to be Regd Exek Polk Additional Comments: DEED BK 1 P 228-229 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/tryon/deeds/glenn82ndd.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/ncfiles/ File size: 4.4 Kb
