In the name of God Amen I John Potts of the County of Tryon and Province of 
North Carolina being very sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory 
thanks be given to the God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and 
knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this 
my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give 
and recommend my soul into the hand of almighty God that gave it and my body & 
recommend to the earth to be buried in a decent Cristian burial at the 
discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I 
shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as tuching shuch 
worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give 
and dispose of in the same in the following maner and form

first I give and bequeath unto my beloved brother Ezekiel one half of a tract 
of land I have on Bullocks Creek to him his heirs and assigns for ever 

allso I give and bequeath unto my brother George the other half of the same 
land to him his heirs and assigns forever the said land to be equally devided 
betwixt them two 

allso I give and bequeath to my sister Susanna one cow and calf 

I give and bequeath unto my sister Sarah one cow and calf 

allso I give and bequeath unto my sister Isbel one cow and calf 

allso I give to my three brothers Ezekiel, James and George whome I likewise 
constitute make and ordain the sole executors of this my last will and 
testament all the rest of my personell estate to be equally devided betwixt 
them three by them freely to be possessed and enjoyed and I do hereby utterly 
disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills 
legacies bequests and executors by me in any ways named willed and bequeathed 
ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament 

In witness whare of I have hereunto set my hand and seal this last day of 
November in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy
