It appears that the inflexible discharge of his duty had rendered COL. CLAYTON obnoxious to a lawless set of beings who resided in his neighborhood – the hellish scheme of his murder was consequently engendered. But “murder will out:” by a providential circumstance a clue has been discovered which promises to bring to light the transaction. One white and two black men have already been committed for trial and several others are held to bail for their appearance at the next term of the Superior Court for that County. – Edenton paper File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/nc/tyrrell/newspapers/murderof563gnw.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/ncfiles/ File size: 1.5 Kb
