Maarbjerg In the Name of God Amen the 20th day of August in the Year of our God Seventeen Hundred and Fifty Three I Williams Rhoads Senior of Terrill County & Province of North Carrolina planter being in a very weak and ... condition in body but in perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God for ye same and calling to mind that mortallity of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die I do make and ordain this my Last will and Testament. That is to say principally and first of all I give and Recommend my Soul into hands of God that gave it, and for my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian manner at the Discretion of my Executors nothing Doubting that at the Generral Resurection I Shall Receive ye Same again by the mighty power of God that gave it & touching(?) the Worldly Estate wherewith it hath Pleased God to bless me with in this Life I give thanks(?) and Dispose(?) of the Same ............ following that is to say: Imprimis: I will and bequeath that all my Just Debts be lawfully paid out of my Personal Estate. Item: I give will and bequeath to my Dearly beloved Wife Elizabeth Rhoads the labour of two negroes York and Rose During her natural Life as also one third part of my household goods and the third part of my homestock of Cattell and Sheep and all my Stock of hogs During her natural Life as aforesaid. Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved Son William Rhoads my manner plantation I now dwell on and the Land belonging to the Families heirs and ... forever the one-third part only Excepted to the use of my Beloved Wife During her natural Life. Item: I will and bequeath to my Son William Rhoads and my Son John Rhoads and my Daughter Margret Collins all other of my household goods to be Equally Divided in four parts, the fourth part to be paid to my Deceased Daughter Elizabeth Garretts son and daughter William Garrett and Sarah Garrett: and the other two thirds of my home stock of cattell after my wifes third be taken out to be divided between my son William Rhoads and my daughter Margrett Collins only my granddaughter Sarah Garrett to have a fourth part of it. Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Rhoads my stock of cattell belonging to the pine ........ and at my wifes Death the Said Negroes to be returned to my Son William Rhoads and John Rhoads to wit - York & Rose and her Increase & the personal Estate Likewise. Item: I Constitute Make and Ordain my Beloved Sons my only and Sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament and I doe hereby utterly Disalow Revoke and Disonull All and Every former Testaments Wills & Legacies Bequeaths by me in any Wise before named willed or bequeathed Confirming this and Noe other to be my Last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand the Day and Date above Whritting.
