STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA
 
To THE SHERIFF OF Union COUNTY ... GREETINGS
 
You are hereby commanded to summon ISAAC ELLIOTT personally to be and appear 
before the Referee at the Court House in MONROE, on 13th October INSTANT then 
and there to testify and the truth to say in behalf of the Deff. in a certain 
matter of controversy before said Court depending, and then and there to be 
tried, wherein and N Carolina to the use of E.F. FUNDERBURK & wife is 
Plaintiff, and BRITTON PARKER and other is Defendant. And this you shall no 
wise omit under the penalty prescribed by law.
 
WITNESS, W.H. SIMPSON, Clerk of our said Court at Monroe, the tenth Monday 
after the fourth Monday in February and in the 84th year of our Independence, 
Anno Domini 1860
