All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/nc/ncfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Carolyn Shank Carolynshank@msn.com February 18, 2008, 10:14 pm Source: Charlotte Journal Written: 1851 5 Mar 1851 State of North Carolina Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions Union County For Dower and Lands Satisfactory evidence being produced before me, the undersigned upon the affadavit of Holly Griffin that James Griffin resides beyond the limits of this State, Therefore general notice is hereby given to the said James Griffin according to law, that the said Holly Griffin, widow and relict of Lee Griffin, deceased, will petition the next Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions for said County, to be held on the first Monday of April next, at the Court House in Monroe, to lay off and allot to her the dower and thirds in lands, of which her husband died seized and possessed; and unless the said James Griffin shall ppear and plead, answer or demur, judgment will be taken pro confesson as to him and the prayer be of the petitioner granted.
