CAROLINA UNION COUNTY In obedience to an order of the County Court Issuing from October Term 1855. W. J. Sikes and W.H. Collins proceeded on the 1st and 2nd day of January 1856 to survey the lands held in controversy between SHEPHERD ROGERS, Plaintiff, and DANIEL D. ROGERS, Defendant, and do hereby make a return of the same together with the necessary plats to January Term 1856. The single drawn black lines accompanied with the brown shade denote the outlines and boundaries of the Plaintiff's deed. Beginning at a stake by a post oak & black jack --shown to us by RUSHING ROGERS as being the true Beginning -- denoted by the index at A. and running OLIVER ROGERS' line 20 chs. & 30 links to a pine by a Bjack & 2 pines -- the grant calling for a Hickory, but no hickory was found; whereupon we tried the marks of the pine and found that from the chips the numbered from 9 to 10 years said corner being represented at B. thence with O. ROGERS' other line North 22 chs & 40 links to the old JOHN WATSON line the Grant calling for a Post Oak in said line at the end of 10 chs. but as this distance did not reach the Watson line, we extended the distance to the line, but found no post oak, marked as represented at C. --the most ancient mark was a BJ pointer standing about 50 links northward from the intersecting point of these two lines, numberings in the Chips about 26 years, thence with said line East 28 chs. & 90 links to the old SARAH ROGERS' Post oak corner as seen at D. missing the same as shown by the dotted line, one chain & 50 links on the left hand, thence with the SARAH ROGERS' line South 15 East 44 chs. & 80 links passing her corner at 42 chs & 10 links to a stake by 2 pines &some Hickories as represented at E. Missing the same as shown by the dotted line , 2 chs. on the left hand -- the Grant calling for a stake in the SARAH ROGERS' line but the Plaintiff claims distance, thence West 73 chains 54 links crossing distance at X and intersecting the DANIEL ROGERS' line 16 chs from the corner claimed by the Plaintiff at F. --the intersecting point being shown by the dotted line from E.-- the Grant calling from E. as aforesaid West 55 chains to a stake in the DANIEL ROGERS line, but as this distance did not reach the aforesaid line it was extended so as to intersect the DANIEL ROGERS line at the aforesaid point making a lappage on the lands of A.T. MARSH, formerly JAMES M. ROGERS as shown by the green shade, thence we ran from the Beginning at A. the calls of the Plaintiff's Deed S 38 W. 37 chs intersecting the DANIEL ROGERS line at 3 chs from the corner claimed by the Plaintiff at F. as shown by the dotted line. Lapping on the DILLON land as shown by the green shade. Making the contents of the Plaintiffs claims including all lappages 226 1/2 acres. The trespass is shown by the red shade at the Corner F. containing about 1-1/2 acres. The double drawn black lines accompanied by the Blue shade. Beginning at an oak stump by an oak pointer in a field as represented by the index at 1. The 2nd corner of the DANIEL ROGERS land and running with a line of the same S. 73 E. 25 chs & 15 links passing the corner claimed by the Plaintiff at 9 chs and passing the corner claimed by the Plaintiff at 9 chs. and passing the intersecting point of the dotted line from the Plaintiff's beginning at 12 chs. and the intersecting point to the west line from E of the Plaintiff's Deed at 15 chs. to a stake by a Post Oak & 2 Red oaks as shown at 2. Then corner of the DANIEL ROGERS land, thence with another line of said land S40 E 5 chs & 50 links to a stake by 2 post oaks as shown at 3. A.T. MARSH's corner thence with his line NORTH 02 East 17 chs. & 60 links to a stake by a Red Oak & White Oak in said MARSH'S line being also on the land claimed by the Plaintiff as represented at 4. thence west 28 chs. & 15 links with Plaintiff's line passing the corner 1 ch. & 15 links on the left hand to a stake by a Red oak and Post Oak as represented at 5 thence North 38 E. 12 chs. to a point as shown at 6 --a stake called for but none found thence East 2 chs. to a point represented at 7 -- stake called for but not found thence North 4 chs. & 25 links to a small pine as represented at 8. thence North 38 East 8 chs & 40 links to a stake by a Post Oak & Blackjack in OLIVER ROGERS line as shown at 9 thence South 81 W 5 chs. & 75 links with said O. ROGERS' line passing the Plaintiff's beginning corner at 90 links to a stake by 3 Blackjacks in DILLION'S line South 8 chs & 80 links to his corner stake by 5 post oaks as seen at 11. thence with DILLON'S other line South 53 W. 10 chs 25 links passing his corner at a fence and with JOB ROGERS line to his corner pine stump in a field as shown at 12. thence North 88 West 15 chs. & 50 links to a Post Oak by a Post Oak shown at 13. thence South 2 chs. & 80 links to the Beginning..
