Jesse Gurley vs. Stephen Whitley

Original attachment Justices Execution levied on the Defendant's interest in 
214 acres of land, known as the Gurley old mill tract

In this case, it appearing to the satisfaction of the Court that the 
defendant/defendants, Stephen Whitley reside beyond the limits of this State: 
It is therefore ordered by the Court that publication be made for six 
successive weeks in the Charlotte Journal notifying said defendant non-
resident to be and Appear at our next Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions to be 
held for Union County at the Court House at Monroe on the 1st Monday in 
October next. 

Then and there to plead, answer or demur to this petition filed: Otherwise 
judgment will be taken pro confesso and the matter will be heard ex parte will 
be made as to them.
Witness Hugh Steward, Clerk of the said Court at office on the 1st Monday in 
July AD 1846.
