Written: 1844

This Indenture Made this 7th day of September AD 1844. Between JOHN ELLIOTT of 
Union County and State of North Carolina of the one part & JAMES M. NELSON of 
the County & State aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for & in 
consideration of one hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the said JAMES M. 
NELSON the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged I the said JOHN ELLIOTT have 
bargained sold & be these do bargain sell & confirm to the said J.M. NELSON a 
certain tract or parcel of land lying & being in Union County, N. C. and runs 
as follows Beginning at a stake where the old line crosses a branch and runs 
with the old  line N. 89 W 21 chains & 50 links to a stake by one ___ and 2 
red oaks. Thence N. 33 chains to a stake by a hickory & R. oak W. 12 chains to 
a stake by 2 hickories Thence 45 W. 6 chains & 50 links to Wickers branch then 
down the various courses of said branch 77 chains to the beginning containing 
87-1/2 acres. Together with all the rights privileges & appurtenances 
thereunto belonging to the said JAMES M. NELSON his heirs and assigns and I 
the said JOHN ELLIOTT bind myself my heirs assigns to warrant and confirm the 
above named premises to the said JAMES M. NELSON his heirs and assigns forever 
against all claiming the same or any part thereof. In witness I have hereunto 
set my hand & seal. the date above written.
