EBENEZER MARSH &  Others to TYSON G. MANESS & Wife  
 
THIS INDENTURE made this 11th day of August AD 1854 between EBENEZER MARSH; 
JAMES S. MARSH; JOHN T. MARSH; WILLIAM S. HAINEY and wife, SARAH; all of the 
County of Union and TALLY K. MANESS and wife LYDIA; BENTON A. MANESS and wife 
R0SANNAH; GRIFFIN S. HAMILTON and wife, LOUISA, and ELIZABETH MARSH of the 
County of Anson and all of the State of North Carolina of the first part and 
TYSON G. MANESS and wife, AGNES of the County of Union and State aforesaid  of 
the second part witnesseth that the parties of the first for and in 
consideration of the sum of Four Hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the 
said TYSON G. MANESS and wife AGNES the receipt is hereby fully acknowledged 
have this day bargained sold aliened and conveyed and by these presents do 
bargain sell alien release convey and confirm unto TYSON G. MANESS and wife 
AGNES a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the County 
of Anson it being a part of the land belonging to the Estate of WM. MARSH, 
deceased late of the County of Anson (and all the parties to these presents 
being children and widow and heirs at law of said Dec'd) bounded as follows 
viz. Beginning at a stake in a drain on the Hasty road on the waters of Brown 
Creek TALLY K. MANESS' corner and runs South West 25 chains to a black oak by 
a pine and spanish oak GRIFFIN HASTY'S corner thence with his own line East 
ten Chains and Sixty links to his corner a stake by red oak and sassafras 
thence with his other line North 11 East eight chains and fifty links to a 
stake by two spanish oaks, red oak and post oak pointers by a fence, then with 
HASTY'S other line South 48 East fifteen Chains to his corner a dead hickory 
by said fence thence with his other line South 45 East Seven Chains and Sixty 
links to a stake by two white oaks, then with Hasty's other line South 12 East 
six chains and forty links to his corner stake by white oak and spanish oak, 
then with Hasty's other line South 10 East eleven chains and thirty five links 
to a small red oak in said line by a red oak and two white oaks GRIFFIN L. 
HAMILTON'S corner thence with his line reverse North 45 East twenty five 
Chains and sixty links to a stake in said line in the HASTY road T.K. MANESS' 
corner thence with said road to the Beginning containing ninety five acres by 
the same more or less to have and to hold to the said TYSON G. MANESS and wife 
AGNES, their heirs and assigns forever and the said  EBENEZER MARSH; JAMES S. 
MARSH; JOHN L. MARSH; WM. S. HANEY and wife, SARAH, TALLY K. MANESS and wife, 
LOUISA, and ELIZABETH MARSH, for ourselves our heirs Executors and 
administrators do hereby covenant and agree that we will hereafter forever 
warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises and every part and parcel 
and every appurtenance thereunto belonging to the said TYSON G. MANESS and 
wife, AGNES, their heirs Executors administrators and assigns free and clear 
from the legal claim of any and all persons whatsoever. In witness thereof the 
said EBENEZER MARSH, JAMES S. MARSH; JOHN T. MARSH; WILLIAM S. HANEY and wife, 
SARAH; TALLY K. MANESS and wife LYDIA; BENTON A. MANESS and wife ROSANNAH; 
GRIFFIN S. HAMILTON and wife LOUISA and ELIZABETH MARSH have each hereto set 
our hands and seals the day and year first written.
