THIS INDENTURE Made this fifth day of August one thousand Eight Hundred and 
forty six between THOMAS ROGERS of the County of Union and State of North 
Carolina of the one part and SHEPHERD ROGERS of the other part WITNESSETH that 
the said THOMAS ROGERS for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and 
fifty dollars to him in hand paid be the said SHEPHERD ROGERS the receipt 
whereof the said THOMAS ROGERS hereby acknowledges hath granted bargained and 
confirmed unto the said SHEPHERD ROGERS, his heirs and assigns all that tract 
of land lying and situated in the County of Union to wit beginning at a post 
oak MOSES EASON'S corner and runs west twenty nine chains and thirty links to 
a stake by a post oak and hickory then with RICHARD ROGERS line South twenty 
three chains to pine then West twenty chains to a stake then South thirty 
eight West twenty six chains to a stake in JOB ROGERS, DANIEL ROSS' Line then 
East thirty seven chains to JAMES M. ROGERS' line then with it North fifty 
seven East twenty eight chains and Eighty links to his corner persimmon tree 
then with his line South fifteen chains and ninety links to a pine in said 
line then East sixteen chains to a stake boy two pine a blackjack & some small 
hickorys then with MOSES EASON'S line North fifteen West forty five chains to 
the beginning containing one hundred and eighty eight and a fourth acres be 
the same more or less with all ways water courses properties commodities 
advantages hereditiments and appurtenances belonging or in otherwise 
appertaining and all remainders  dues and rents issues and properties of him 
the said THOMAS ROGERS to said premises and every part thereof to have and to 
hold unto the said
SHEPHERD ROGERS his heirs and assigns to their only proper use and behoof of 
the said SHEPPERD ROGERS his heirs and assigns he the said THOMAS ROGERS his 
heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the said land and premises 
against the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever in witness 
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.
