Company  E, 40th Regiment NC

Enlisted in Union County at age 20, August 27, 1861 for twelve months.
Present or accounted for through December 1864. Wounded and captured at
Fort Fisher January 15, 1865 and confined at Point Lookout, Md., until
released after taking Oath of Allegiance June 5, 1865.
