Concord, March 7 - Since the death of Esquire V.N. Mitchell, which occurred 
Thursday, only eight of the survivors of a company of 90 volunteer Mexican 
veterans from this county live. They are: L.A. Blackwelder, of Charlotte, 
Riley Blackwelder, of Rowan; Timothy Tucker, Ephraim Tucker, D.C. Faggart, 
G.W. Barnhardt, James Dorton and J.N. Brown, of this county, all of whom are 
between the ages of 70 and 75 years.
