Suicide in Union

A Young Man, Married Only a Year, Takes His Own Life - Despondent on Account 
of His Wife's Sickness

Monroe, March 24 - There was a case of suicide near here this morning. Mr. 
O.L. Doster, a comparatively young man, shot himself through the forehead with 
a 32-calibre Smith & Wesson pistol. The affair was tragic in the exteme. He 
had been married something over a year and a child had been born. He was very 
despondent at the protracted sickness of his wife, but his neighbors did not 
notice anything wrong till yesterday and then only enough to be remarked in 
the light of subsequent events. 

About 9 o'clock this morning he went into his wife's room and walked to the 
bureau. The two or three women who were present did not pay any attention to 
him, thinking he was combing his hair. The pistol fired in a few moments, and 
they looked around only to see him fall dead. His father was killed some years 
ago in a runaway.
