     WILL OF  JANE STITT of Mecklenburg
(Filed in Union County)
 Written 3 November, 1842        Proved January Term 1844

   To my my daughter, ELIZABETH MATTHEWS, a negro man, ISAAC, forever. Also, a 
new negro man, JOE. Also $100; one-third of all the notes on hand at my 
decease; a bed and furniture; a third of my bedding and clothes press.
   To heirs of my son, WILLIAM M. STITT, dec'd, my negro, JACOB, a boy, 
SAMSON, and a small tract of land adjoining the MCBRIDE place, and the place 
in which WILLIAM M. STITT, deceased, hereby confirming that disposition which 
said WILLIAM M. STITT made of the above mentioned man JACOB and boy, SAMSON, 
and small tract of land in his last will.
   Also to said heirs of WILLIAM M. STITT, viz: JAMES M. STITT and MARY JANE 
STITT, two-thirds of all the notes that may be on hand. To JAMES, my clock and 
cupboard, and to MARY JANE, one bed and furniture equal to one-third of my 
beddings.
   To my two grandchildren, JAMES STITT MATTHEWS and ELIZABETH JANE MATTHEWS, 
my negro woman, EVELINE, and her six children: AMELIA; JOHN; AARON; HENRY; 
ANTHONY; and JUDE. Also to the two grandchildren  my falling leaf table, a bed 
and furniture.
