   JAMES ANDREW NORWOOD was born September 11, 1876 in Mecklenburg
   County, Virginia. The area of his birth was in the southern portion of
   the County on Grassy Creek and near the Granville County, North
   Carolina line. The settlement of Sudan was a mile or so to the east.
   
   Andrew Norwood was the son of LUCY ANN FRANCES REBECCA NORWOOD (1844 -
   1921), a native of Granville County, North Carolina, and the daughter
   of BENJAMIN NORWOOD (1804 - 1876) and REBECCA OWEN (ca. 1808 - ca.
   1858). Benjamin Norwood was the son of JOHN NORWOOD (ca. 1755 - 1842)
   and wife (unknown).
   
   The first wife of Andrew Norwood was FLORENCE FOSTER of Mecklenburg
   County, Virginia, the daughter of Henry Foster. She died at a young
   age in the late 1890s, during childbirth....the baby dying also.
   
   Andrew Norwood was married the second time to HALLIE FAUCETT, a
   daughter of Alexander Faucett. They had three children to reach
   adulthood: ALICE NORWOOD who married WILLIE PETTIGREW HOPE, then
   CHARLIE KING; BEN ALEXANDER NORWOOD who married STELLA HOPE, the
   sister of Willie P. Hope; and, WILLIAM ANDREW "Billy" NORWOOD who
   married HAZEL KING of Warren County, N. C.
   
   Upon the death of Hallie Norwood, Andrew Norwood married his third
   wife, MARY LONIE PROCTOR, daughter of David A. Proctor and Lucy
   Faucett, the sister of Alexander Faucett. They had the following
   children: FLORENCE LEIGH NORWOOD who married HEZEKIAH "H. K."
   NEATHERY; SALLIE NORWOOD who married MAJOR R. WYNN of Warren County,
   N. C.; MARY FRANCES NORWOOD who married WILLIAM THOMAS NEATHERY, Jr.,
   the brother of H. K. Neathery; ANNIE MAUDE NORWOOD who married WILLIAM
   LAWENCE ELLIOTT, a nephew of Thomas and H. K. Neathery; JAMES SCOTT
   NORWOOD who died in service during World War II; RUTH NORWOOD who
   married RALPH RICHARDSON, then WILLIAM BATH upon Richardson's death,
   and EDDIE COLEMAN upon Bath's death; GEORGE HERBERT NORWOOD who
   married JANE O'BRIEN.
   
   James Andrew Norwood was a farmer all of his life. He served, for many
   years, as an elder in the Nutbush Presbyterian Church at Townsville,
   N. C. He died on May 19, 1954 at his home just north of Williamsboro
   in Vance County; and, is buried in the Nutbush Church Cemetery,
   Townsville. His legacy is one of a good man, known by many people,
   with many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great
   grandchildren living in throughout the eastern United States.
