Matthews Henderson-Mrs Sallie Gould Matthews,82, died at 7:40 p.m. on Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Earl Dise. Mrs. Matthews was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Gould of Mecklenburg County VA. She was the widow of John H. Matthews, who died in 1952. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church at Townsville. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Sallie Henderson of Fayetteville, Mrs. Alice Mutchler of Easton, Pa, and Mrs. Rose Dise of Henderson with whom she made her home: one son, June J. Matthews of Route 5, Henderson; and two stepsons, Roger L. Mathews of Townsville and Kemp Matthews of Washington, D. C. ; 13 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Rock Springs Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Floyd Hellams, the pastor, and the Rev. Jack Coffey, pastor of Island Creek Baptist Church.
