LUCY HICKS RIDEOUT

   Mrs. Lucy Hicks Rideout, 42, a resident of Franklin for the past six years, 
died suddenly at her home on Chestnut Street on Friday morning, November 16.

   The deceased was the daughter of the late James W. and Mattie Pascall Hicks 
of Vance County, N.C., and the wife of James Lee Rideout, owner and manager of 
the Franklin Furniture & Appliance Company. She was a member of the High Street 
Methodist Church.

   Besides her husband she is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth H. 
Edwards of Manson, N.C., and Mrs. Frances Rose Williams of Norfolk; one brother, 
James Hicks of Henderson, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

   Funeral services for Mrs. Rideout were held at 3:30 o’clock Sunday afternoon 
at the Providence Methodist Church, near Warrenton, N.C., with Rev. Elmer N. 
Hassell and Rev. William Wells officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

   The pallbearers were Walter C. Burroughs, Jr., Rufus Daniel, Lewis Fuller, 
Badger Hicks, Percy Oliver, Morris Pinnell and Thomas Pinnell.
