Born June 24, 1855, at Wake Forest, NC.
Educated in the common schools.
Entered railway service June 1873 with the Atlantic Coast Line Rd, since which 
he has been consecutively June 1, 1877 to June, 1844, clerk and operator 
Charlotte, NC, agency, Carolina Central Ry;
June 1884 to Feb. 1888, chief clerk to superintendent at Wilmington, NC;
Feb. 1888 to March 1890, paymaster and car accountant same road;
March 1890 to May 1, 1895, trainmaster Seaboard Air Line Ry at Raleigh, NC;
May 1, 1895 to date, superintendent telegraph same road at Portsmouth, Va.
