Wake County, NC - Cemeteries File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Shirley Olson Dec. 10, 2001 Jeridan Cemetery Heavy Weight Road WAKE Co., NC Transcribed from tombstones by Shirley & Gordon Olson Directions from Raleigh: From I-40 take the Lake Wheeler Rd. (SR 1375) exit South to SR 1010, turn right (West) about 1/2 mile to a left turn onto Johnson Pond Rd. (SR 1404). A short distance on Johnson Pond Rd., take a right turn on Heavy Weight Rd. (SR 2400) which is paved a short way and is then graveled. Follow the road less than 1/2 mile to a small cemetery, unfenced, in the middle of several homes scattered here and there in this semi rural area. The tombstones are in good condition and the area tidy. This is an African American family burial ground. Descendants of the Woodard family reside on the property. The cemetery appears to be in the path of the proposed Southern Wake Expressway Corridor.
