Knight Cemetery
Old Knight Rd.
Knightdale, St. Matthews Twp., Wake Co., NC

N 35° 48' 30.5"  W 78° 28' 20.2"

From the intersection of Knightdale Blvd. (Hwy. # 64 East) & Old Knight Rd. 
(SR 2049), take Old Knight Rd. which runs northeast. Go .6 mi. to the 
cemetery on the right, directly across from Knightdale High School. There 
is no good place to park but there is a shoulder in front of the school 
where you can park with care. The cemetery is almost hidden in the woodsy 
growth and easy to miss. A flight of steps goes up a small incline to the 
wrought iron enclosed cemetery. An obelisk engraved "Knight" is surrounded 
by graves. It is neat and tidy, no longer in use, and about 40' X 40" in 
size.  I walked the cemetery and recorded from the headstones.

Wayne Schultz, a Knightdale historian, has provided 2 additional names 
for the Knight Cemetery. The names, inscribed on the back of the black 
obelisk in the center of the cemetery, were missed when the cemetery 
was surveyed. In addition, Wayne provided a bit of local history. Please 
add these 2 names:

Knight, Henry Haywood, b. 5 Nov 842, d. 7 May 1904, founder of Knightdale, NC
Knight, Thomas, d. 29 Oct 1902, aged 45 years
