Wake County, NC - Cemeteries File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Shirley Olson Macedonia Cemetery, WAKE Co., NC Transcribed from tombstones by Shirley Olson, May 3, 2002 Location: 2500 Mid Pines Rd., Swift Creek Twp., Wake County, North Carolina Lat. 35° 44' 44"N Long. 78° 41' 53"W Directions: From Hwy. I-40 on the south side of Raleigh take the Gorman Street (SR 1571) Exit # 295. Turn south at the stop sign and come to Tryon Rd. (SR 1009), about 1/4 mile. At the traffic light turn left (east) on Tryon and go 3/10 mile to Mid Pines Rd. (SR 1372) and turn right. Go 1/10 mile to the cemetery on the right side of the road. Drive in and park. Description: There was a church at this location years back, according to Ms. Mary Champion, 80 years of age, who lives down the road and has family buried at the cemetery, but no trace of a church exists currently. There appears to be sufficent space for additional burials. The cemetery has many unmarked graves, some of which have rough stones indicating burials, some have faded funeral home markers, unreadable. There is a whole section on the front left that is dotted with short rough stone markers that are obviously grave markers, but no indentification. A pretty little statue on the front right has no identifying marks. The graves are scattered, with family plots in various locations. Honeysuckle scents the air and large trees shade the tombstones.
