Wake County, NC - Cemeteries File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Shirley Olson Rand Cemetery, 2208 Benson Hwy. (rte. 50), Garner, WAKE Co., NC, on the property of Garner Church of God. Cemetery is no longer in use. Recorded from tombstones. Note: This is the SECOND Rand Cemetery recorded. Lat. 35° 39' 48" Long. 078° 36' 30" Transcribed by Shirley & Gordon Olson 1/30/02 Directions: From Interstate 40: Exit on 401 S. and drive south about 3 miles to Tryon. Bear left on Hwy. 70 E and continue on 70 E about a mile to the traffic light at Timber Road. Turn right on Timber Road. Stay on Timber Road 5 or 6 miles until you reach the traffic light on Benson Hwy. (Rte. 50) and turn right. About 1-2 mile on the right you will pass New Bethel Church and cemetery and shortly after that there will be a second church on the right, Garner Church of God. The cemetery is not visible from the road. In a grove of trees on a gentle slope above the intersection of Benson Hwy. and Buffalo Rd., obscured from view by cedar trees that enclose it, is this little cemetery with just 15 graves. The tombstones are the thin, fragile ones that tell you they are very old, and the in-ground markers are also weathered, but the cemetery is immaculate and lovingly cared for.
