Wake County, NC – Wake Forest Pleasant Grove Academy – Act to Establish, 1827 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ An Act to establish Oak (sic) Forest Pleasant Grove Academy, in the county of Wake Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of North Carolina, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That William B. Dunn, Jesse Powell, John Ligon, Jeremiah Dunn, Burrel Perry, Dempsey Powell, Cyrus Whitaker, William P. Ferral and William Roles, be, and they are hereby declared a body politic and corporate, to be known and distinguished by the name of “the Trustees of Wake Forest Pleasant Grove Academy, in the county of Wake,” and by that name shall have perpetual succession and a common seal, and shall be vested with all the powers and authorities which are usually given to the trustees of other academics, established by the laws of this State. And be it further enacted, That the said trustees, or a majority of them, shall have power to supply all vacancies that may occur in their body, from death, resignation, removal or otherwise.
