H. Harward } Elizabeth Broadwell, of the first part and F. H. Harward of the second part - all of the County of Wake and State of North Carolina: Witnesseth That Jarratt and Elizabeth Broadwell for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty-five Dollars to us in hand paid has bargained and by these presents doth bargain, grant, sell and deliver to the said F. H. Harward her heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land lying in the County of Wake and State aforesaid, adjoining the Lands of John Jinks and others and bounded as follows, towit: Beginning at a Dogwood John Jinks’ corner, running West 41-1/2 poles to (a stake; thence South 96 poles to a stake; thence East 41-1/2 poles to a stake; thence North 96 poles to the first station, containing 25 acres with all and every appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining, and we do hereby convenant to and with the said F. H. Harward and that we have before the execution of this deed, full right and Lawful authority to sell the said land and premises, and agree hereby to warrant and defend the right and title of the same to her the said F. H. Harward, her heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year above written. Jarratt Broadwell (Seal) Witness: T. T. Council Wake County - In the Probate Court Be it remembered, That on the 12th day of March 1869 before the undersigned Judge of Probate for said County, personally came Jarratt Broadwell and Elizabeth Broadwell his wife, the persons described in and who signed the foregoing deed, and acknowledged the due execution thereof by them as their act and deed. And thereupon the said Elizabeth Broadwell being by the undersigned privately examined separate and apart-from her said husband touching her free consent in the execution thereof doth declare on such her examination that she had executed the same freely of her own free will and accord, and without any force, fear or undue influence of her said husband or any other person, and does still voluntarily assent-thereto. Therefore Let the said deed with, with (sic?) this certificate be registered. J. N.
